In order to encourage men to further participate in childcare, we will create a brochure fully explains how to take childcare leave. In addition, we will encourage partnership/cooperative organizations to make active use of the brochure.

Project to Promote Paternity Leave

We will fully explain how to take childcare leave by creating a brochure and posting it on our website. This is the implementation of target 1 of the ‘General Employer Action Plan’ specified in the ‘Law for Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation’.

When men take child-care leave, they can understand a woman’s childcare burden. This enables them to respect each other and also to balance work with life. Therefore, we encourage men to further participate in childcare as this action will foster changes in their way of thinking. This will further result in the implementation of improvements in the research environments. As a further measure, we will establish a system to provide workplace administrators with professional advice about how childcare leave arrangement can be formulated.

Seminars to Change the Way of Thinking about Improvements to Diversity-Sensitive Research Environments

We believe that creating a work environment that favors females’ success is not only a matter that concerns female researchers, but also concerns people in managerial positions.

In order to change the way of thinking, we will have diversity seminars and workshops (including group work, role play, World Café, and other activities). In an effort to assist each participant to identify any issues, we will hold separate seminars for people in managerial positions, researchers and staff members. By these measures, we aim to facilitate changes in the way of thinking regarding how to improve research environments within academic faculties and partnership/cooperative organizations.
